Otsego Land Trust invites the community for a day of family fun to celebrate this 22-acre community conservation area on Otsego Lake. The day is packed full of unique programs and activities to kick off the grand re-opening of the property for the summer season.
Kay Olan, Mohawk story teller will be giving the opening and closing statements followed by a perforamnce by the Akwesasne Women Singers, a Haudenosaunee womens’ singing grop and are Kanienkehaka, People of the Flint. Glimmerglass Festival Youth Opera composer Ben Moore and librettist Kelley Rourke will be presenting musical themes from the 2017 world premiere opera Robin Hood for youth. Property and garden tours, kids activities, music and lawn games will be available throughout the day, as well as wood-fired pizza available for purchase from Mangia Macrina’s. Canoe and Kayak Rentals and Sales, a customer service oriented paddle store out of Portlandville will be kicking off their season at Brookwood by providing canoe, kayak and stand up paddle board rentals and free demos. John Sullivan and Friends will provide lively folk music throughout the afternoon.
