First Day Hike at Gilbert Lake State Park

Celebrate the start of 2026 with a hike!

This is a self-guided hike opportunity with no official hikes scheduled. The trail will be open for hiking, cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing, dancing, and sledding – any movement encouraged! The most popular trail would be the Lake Trail. The Lake Trail is just over a mile with minor hills. We will also have a path cleared on the road around the lake for easier walking on the pavement with the other half of the road being our groomed skiing path (snow pending). Dress for the weather and bring ice spikes or walking sticks to help in case of ice! Meet at The Briggs Pavilion and the hike has options range between 1 and 3 miles. No registration required.
