DESCRIPTION:Come to Gilbert Lake State Park for a full moon celebration! \nThis event will go from 1pm-8pm so you can enjoy the day and hike around the lake after-hours by the light of the February full moon.\nWe will have hotdogs for roasting and chili (for chili dogs )\, hot tea/coffee/cocoa\, cookies and s’mores of course!\nWe’ll have the fires going in the Briggs all day so come on down! \nBring non-perishable items to donate to the Martin Luther King Jr. food drive and enter to win a Gilbert Lake goodie basket. All non-perishable items welcome\, especially self-care items such as toothbrushes\, toothpaste\, bar soap\, deodorant\, feminine hygiene products etc. Gilbert Lake State Park collected 251 items at the First Day Hike event\, and would love to collect even more this time around. Your generosity is very much appreciated.

Weather permitting\, the tubing hill at Glimmerglass State Park will be open from 11 am to 4 pm Saturdays and Sundays in January and February.  Admission is $5 per person and tubes are provided. \nThe warming hut will be open and hot cocoa and snacks will be available for purchase. \nThere needs to be a good base of snow for the tubing hill to be open. Check the Park’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/GlimmerglassStatePark/ or call the park office 607/547-8662 before heading out to make sure the tubing hill will be open. \nTubing at Glimmerglass State Park can be counted as one of the eight Winter activities needed to achieve the Otsego Outdoors Winter Octet.

Additionally\, the planet Mars will plainly be visible\, as will Jupiter and maybe Venus if the horizon permits. We also hope to view the most distant object visible to the naked eye…located 2.5 million light-years away\, M31\, The Andromeda Galaxy. \nPlease\, bring comfortable folding chairs and dress warmly! We will meet before the presentation in the workshop on site and then return indoors afterward for hot chocolate. Free!
