Trail Map Texas School House State Forest
Volunteers from the Butternut Valley Alliance worked on the trail in the fall of 2023.
The Blue Trail features 22 interpretive signs describing the flora, fauna and management practices of the state forest. The route takes hikers through a beautiful part of the state forest and is marked with DEC blue trail markers. There is a large beaver pond where you will see impressive beaver architecture, active nests of great herons, rolling hills, old stone walls, and much more. The yellow trail (~1-1/4 mile) is not open at the moment.
The trails at Texas School House State Forest are a joint project sponsored by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and the Town of New Lisbon.
